Animation

Animation is the art of taking two-dimensional renderings and literally bringing them to life. More than any other genre of illustration art, it connects us to a specific era in American history. In 1928, the advent of sound allowed artists to create cartoons, which could finally be heard. Their popularity peaked during the 1940s, and during that period a number of well-known characters appeared including Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy, Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Popeye, and Woody Woodpecker among others. While cartoons remained popular into the early 1960s, television and feature length animation began to gain in popularity. More
