As old as human culture, advertising art has engaged some of the most famous artists and encompasses a variety of media from billboards, magazines, commercials and newspaper advertisements, to movies and theatrical plays. Coming into its own during the 1920’s, its ubiquity began to reflect the optimism and hope of the 50s and 60s. Advertising’s golden age of the 20th century was born as icons of American pop culture such as McDonalds, M&Ms and Hawaiian Punch started to resonate with consumers. Through the Internet, it continues to shape our world today. More
